Network builder FullFibre Limited has announced that their new Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based gigabit broadband ISP network has finally gone live in the towns of Alfreton (Derbyshire), Evesham (Worcestershire) and Cheadle (Stoke on Trent) – including some surrounding areas.
In Cheadle, more than 50% of the town (over 5,000 properties) can now take service and the rest are due to be covered over the next 6 months. Evesham is also live and available to over 5,000 residents, representing about a third of the town and the rest will be delivered by Q2 2023. Homes in Alfreton have also started to go live and the operator has so far covered 4,000 properties across the area, including the nearby communities of Somercotes, Leabrooks, Riddings and Swanwick.
The operator, which deploys its network as a wholesale platform via Fibre Heroes for other ISPs to harness (i.e. consumers should visit that site to check coverage), is currently targetting 80+ town in parts of 11 different counties (e.g. Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Herefordshire and Gloucestershire). At present, their aim is to reach “at least” 500,000 premises by 2025.

James Warner, FullFibre’s CSO, said:
“Putting towns and communities live and providing more opportunities for our partners is the really exciting bit about what we do. Connecting customers to a true 21st century network is what we are all here for and the opportunity for our partners and the towns we cover is growing day by day.”
In terms of pricing, two of FullFibre Limited’s most prominent ISPs are iDNET and Air Broadband. The latter charges from about £25 per month for a symmetric speed 100Mbps package on a 12-month term with free setup and router (they’ve also got a cheaper social tariff at £20 for the same speed), while iDNET’s plans start at £33 per month for a 50Mbps package (plus £60 one-off for setup and no router), but that’s on a 1-month term.
The advert on the side of that van is pretty bad, assuming they have at least 35mbps FTTC they are unlikely to notice much difference while online shopping.
a few miliseconds can mean the difference between that prada bag being sold out
Latency matters for wife online shopping nowadays
They are currently working in my village of Hatton and next village up for Hilton, I can’t wait 😀
Unprofitable areas on less than 12mb will be left for ever buffeting, falling further back in time.
