Alternative network ISP Quickline has announced that their ongoing rollout of a new Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based “ultrafast broadband” network in England has been extended to include three additional rural communities in North Lincolnshire, which forms part of a demand-led deployment.
The operator is currently being supported by a £500m investment from Northleaf Capital Partners, which acquired the company last year and is helping to fuel their future ambition to cover 500,000 UK premises in rural and semi-rural areas with “ultrafast broadband” via a mix of Full Fibre (FTTP) and 5G based FWA (wireless) infrastructure (here).
The latest additions to this plan include three villages in rural parts of North Lincolnshire – Flixborough, Burton upon Stather and Normanby. The network, which was deployed on a demand-led basis (half of the local homes pre-registered their interest), has already started to go live for residents living in Lodge Lane, High Street and Burton Road in Flixborough.
Overall, a total of almost 200 homes and more than 400 business are expected to benefit from the new service in Flixborough. But they’ll need to do a much bigger rollout in order to hit their targets, although they’ve yet to say precisely how many premises will get FTTP as part of the 500,000 goal or when that might reach completion.
Chris Akrill, Quickline’s Head of Fibre Operations, said:
“We’re delighted to be able to offer fibre in Flixborough, which will transform how this community uses the Internet. With the mixture of residential properties and businesses in the village, our fibre service is the ideal solution to meet the needs of all users in the area.
Having fast and easy internet access is now an essential part of daily life and we’re here to ensure it’s a reality for rural internet users. Our rollout in Flixborough is yet another example of Quickline delivering on our mission to reach communities that have been left behind by other providers.
We want to ensure residents and businesses in Flixborough have the most robust and reliable connections and high speeds, while also bringing improved internet access to many other communities.”
Customers looking to hop on to this new network can expect to pay from £35 inc. VAT per month (£25 under the current discount) for an unlimited 100Mbps (50Mbps upload) service on a 24-month contract with free setup, which rises to £65 per month (£55 on discount) for their top 900Mbps (450Mbps upload) package. You also get an included router.
Nice for Flixborough to be in the news for a good reason.
Quickline were working in Cawood, North Yorkshire installing BT ducting and Chambers, gave no notice at all to residents and blocked them in.
Then proceeded to knock on the doors and tell people they were cityfibre
Quicklime don’t install passive infrastructure for other operators.
