Business ISP Commsworld has provided UK alternative network provider FullFibre Limited with a capacity boost for their FTTP broadband rollout in Derbyshire by deploying a 100Gbps connection between the Derby Exchange and Telehouse North Two (data centre) in London.
FullFibre Limited, which is being backed by investment from Basalt, is currently deploying their gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network across various counties in England, including parts of Derbyshire (e.g. Alfreton). The operator, which deploys its network as a wholesale platform via Fibre Heroes for other ISPs to harness, aims to reach “at least” 500,000 premises by 2025.
However, such networks require plenty of capacity to help them grow, which is where the new 100G (backhaul wavelength) link comes in. Commsworld states that they were able to provide this link in the space of just 18 working days, which compares well with the 45-90 working days that some other operators achieve.

Steve Wood, Group Sales Director for Commsworld, said:
“We are delighted to have been able to deliver this 100Gb wavelength backhaul connection between Derby and Telehouse North Two at lightning speed for FullFibre.
This underlines that Commsworld is one of the UK’s leading companies when it comes to delivering network capacity that is also resilient, reliable and cost-effective. This success further strengthens the partnership we have with FullFibre, which is doing excellent work offering FTTP to communities across Derbyshire.”
Ross Duke, CTO at FullFibre, said:
“Having Commsworld provide this backhaul in such a rapid turnaround has really been an enabler in our expanding network build. It allows us to continue to build at pace and, thanks to Commsworld’s expertise, our partners are able to continue to serve residents within the county.
Not only was this completed at high cadence, but Commsworld’s expertise has been indispensable throughout the entire process.
We look forward to continuing our build in the area, safe in the knowledge that the extra 100 Gigabit capacity is already in place. This in turn will lead to further partnership opportunities in the other areas where we are building in the UK.”
End.
It’s very odd. Apparently my home is in a region that has just gone live, but if you go on their website you just get a generic “Coming soon” message and a form to register your interest.
There is, as far as I can see, no link to any ISPs or any other way of getting service from them…
Try air broadband, befibre or squirrel
Thank you for the tips 🙂
