Gigabit broadband ISP YouFibre, which sells plans via Netomnia and Cityfibre’s respective UK Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) networks, has introduced a new suite of standard pricing tariffs for all new customers – starting from only £1 a month for the first 3 months of service on their 1Gbps plan. Plus, they recently added a Social Tariff.
The provider states that their new tariffs have been launched in response to the cost-of-living crisis and, as part of that, they’ve committed to a price freeze for 2023, meaning no surprise mid-contract price hikes for customers. Consumers will no doubt welcome that.
In terms of what else has changed, and leaving aside that £1 a month introductory price (this is just a different play on the X months free style deals we often see), prices now start at £21.99 per month for their 150Mbps (symmetric) tier on a 24-month term (rising to £25 a month thereafter). After that, the 500Mbps tier costs £27.99 (£30 after 24-months) and 1Gbps costs £29.99 (£40 after 24-months).

The price includes unlimited usage, free installation and an included router.
Ryan Battle, MD of YouFibre, said:
“The cost of living crisis has already taken a huge toll on households and businesses across the UK. With energy costs predicted to rise even further this year, we wanted to create tariffs that not only alleviate the financial pressure of utility bills in the short-term, but remains competitive throughout the entire contract, with no nasty surprises.
With full fibre broadband now available to 42% of all homes within the UK, consumers are beginning to see the significant benefits full fibre brings in an increasingly digital world. Our ambition for 2023 is to connect as many people as possible to our affordable, reliable, ultrafast network and help the UK transition to a completely full-fibre future.”
On top of all that, YouFibre appears to have quietly launched its own cheaper Social Tariff for those on benefits at the very end of last year, which appears to reflect a reinvention of their own 50Mbps (symmetric) package and costs just £15 a month “on a 24-month contract” (social tariffs should ideally be on flexible contracts). But at present you can only apply for this via the phone.
On top of that, the small print notes that they won’t apply early termination fees if your benefits circumstances change, provided 30-days’ notice is given, so it’s not a super strict contract. Finally, eligible benefits include Income Support, Pension Credit, Income-related Job Seekers Allowance, Housing Benefit, Personal Independence Payment, Attendance Allowance and Universal Credit.
UPDATE 17th Jan 2023

YouFibre has updated their social tariff page to confirm that it’s a 24-month term, not 18-months, as incorrectly referenced in their small print earlier.
These prices look amazing.
Meanwhile I’ll be paying almost 50 quid for 100 download 10 upload on trashy BT on a supposedly ftth line. Ofcom needs to step in and prohibit changing pricing during contracts
You could always move provider in search of a better service instead of whinging about it and doing nothing about it.
The fact you haven’t speaks volumes…
Something called locked contract with exit penalty exists. It speaks volumes that you don’t know about it
Shame they have moved from 18 to 24 month contracts. Too long for me.
They offer a non contract package too
What’s the picture in the article?
YouFibre use Amazon Eero, don’t they?
Yes, but when you google these days, you’ll also get this from Aris:

They seem to have changed a lot more than their prices (and that disgusting new router!)
The 1000 package seems to have been changed to 920 average, not 1000 average, 950 expected, 920 minimum like it was before.
The mesh system also seems to have been removed from the 1000 package.
They’ve also changed the price of the mesh system from a straight £7 per month to £7 per month per node.
They’ve also adopted the absurd industry standard of not properly advertising the actual price in their website – for the 1000 package they have £1 in a font size about 10x larger than the actual monthly price. I HATE that. That kind of poor advertising practice is enough to make me consider ditching the pre-order I have with them on it’s own.
They’ve also thrown out 18 month commitments in place of 24 month ones, one of their key differentiators. This has nothing to do with cost of living, they’re just using that as an excuse to cover up a lot of changes that aren’t really in their customers interests.
If you’re not happy with the 24 month they offer No Contract option
Can you tell me more about the disgusting new router?
@Mml don’t worry they are using Eero 6, this is old!
They don’t use the Eero 6. I got Youfibre in last week. It’s the Aris router.
