Network builder and UK broadband ISP Quickline, which currently plans to roll out their gigabit-capable full fibre (FTTP) network to 96 rural locations (55,000 premises) across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire in England, has announced that their new in-house Build Team has just connected its first community – Dragonby.
The tiny North Lincolnshire hamlet of Dragonby is home to just 60 households and has just become the first rural community to be connected by Quickline’s own Build Team. As a result, local residents can now access broadband speeds of up to 1Gbps for the first time. The operator’s in-house team are also building in other locations, such as South Ferriby, Tealby and North Willingham (see their rollout plans here and here).
The work is being supported by a £500m investment from Northleaf Capital Partners, which acquired the ISP in 2021. Quickline has previously stated that this would fuel their ambition to cover 500,000 UK premises in rural and semi-rural areas with “ultrafast broadband” via a mix of FTTP and 5G based FWA (wireless) infrastructure “by 2025” (here).

The operator has already covered 300,000 premises via just their FWA network, while their XGS-PON based Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) deployment has so far covered 10,000 premises across over 20 rural communities and that part took just 8-months to achieve.
Quickline CEO, Sean Royce, said:
“Having a fast, reliable broadband service is essential for staying in touch with family and friends, home entertainment, online shopping and so much more.
Our full fibre broadband unlocks game-changing speeds and provides a rock-solid connection, no matter what your needs are or where you live.
We’re thrilled that residents in Dragonby can now join our full fibre network and it’s all thanks to our new in-house Build Team. The team has been working hard to lay the cables and make the connections to homes in the hamlet.
We hope residents in Dragonby enjoy their enhanced digital life with Quickline.”
Residential customers covered by their newer FTTP network are usually charged from £29 per month on a 24-month term for 100Mbps (50Mbps upload) speeds with free installation, and that goes up to £49 for their top 900Mbps (450Mbps upload) tier. But Quickline are also giving their customers some peace of mind with a commitment that their tariffs will remain unchanged for 24-months.
