UK ISP Shell Energy, which is in the process of being acquired from the Octopus Energy Group by TalkTalk (here), will today announce annual price increases across their broadband and phone plans (including add-ons and call charges). The changes will impact both new customers and existing customers who are agreeing to a new contract.
The latest changes tend to be detailed inside their Price Guide. In terms of the impact on their headline broadband and phone packages, monthly rentals are expected to increase by between +£1.88 on their old ‘Fast Broadband‘ (ADSL) plan and +£3.91 on their top ‘Full Fibre 900Mbps‘ (FTTP) service.
The price increases also touch Shell Energy’s call plans (e.g. AnyTime Calls go from £11.94 to £12.65 a month), call charges (UK landline calls jump from 21.49p to 22.80p per minute), call features and one-off charges (e.g. the new line install charge goes from £67.50 to £71.55). We’ve summarised most of this at the bottom of the article.

Naturally, it’s worth remembering that other major ISPs will also be confirming their own annual price hikes over the next few days and weeks (summary), which should display a similar impact to those above. As recent surveys have shown, the best way to save money when this occurs is to try switching ISP, but failing that you could always give haggling a go (Retentions – Tips for Cutting Your Broadband Bill).
We hope that Netgem.TV will be offered to shell broadband customers soon !!!
