New customers of mobile operator Three UK, specifically those looking to take their 5G based unlimited Home Broadband package on a 24-month term, may like to know that the operator has discounted the first 12-months of service to just £11 (down from the usual £22). You’ll also get their latest Zyxel NR5103Ev2 5G Hub.
As per usual, Three’s website doesn’t provide a lot of detail (here) on their latest 5G Hub router (launched last year), although it’s said to support dual-band WiFi 6 and include 2 x TS9 connectors for an external antenna, as well as 2 x 1GB Ethernet ports (Zyxel’s website gives more detail).
The device is said to be “theoretically” capable of download speeds up to 4.7Gbps, but end-users are unlikely to ever even get close to that in the real-world and Three’s website promotes their 5G Home Broadband package as only being able to offer “average download speeds of 150Mbps“. This reflects the performance from “at least 50% of 5G Broadband customers between the peak hours of 8pm and 10pm.”

Mobile network performance will naturally vary like the wind between locations, so take all of this with a pinch of salt. In addition, it should be noted that Three’s 5G Home Broadband plans aren’t yet available to every location, and in some areas they may only be able to offer a slower 4G service or no home broadband option at all due to capacity constraints.
