Mobile network operator giffgaff, which has pledged not to raise its prices mid-contract, has today launched a new promotion that attempts to soften the impact of soaring mobile and broadband bills by offering free pizzas across the UK via Deliveroo this Friday (15th March).
The operator’s ‘It’s the yeast we could do‘ campaign (the yeast in bread, not the infection, we presume), launching on 15th March, will aim to give away 1,000 pizzas across the UK via Deliveroo to “bring some joy to those who might be affected by the price hikes in April.”
The way this work is that, come Friday, you’ll be able to claim a voucher to cover the cost of your next takeaway pizza by visiting @giffgaffmobile on Instagram. Visitors will then have the “chance of getting their hands on one of the 1,000 codes, each worth £17.65, which will be valid from 15th March until the end of April” (the promo available nationwide).

Ash Schofield, CEO of giffgaff, says:
“As the network committed to no mid-contract price rises, we wanted to bring some much-needed joy to those impacted by mobile price rises coming in April.
While we can’t prevent the price rises brought in by other networks in the industry, we decided we could treat the nation in a different way – with their favourite takeaway instead. Our research shows that takeaways are the nation’s favourite way to treat themselves, so it was an obvious way for us to bring a smile to the nation.”
The good news is that you don’t need to be a giffgaff customer in order to enter, and the rules are as follows:

They obviously want to grab a pizza the action…… I know it’s bad.
How about offering more data or lowering your prices. #uselogic
right? I just left them. I put £10 on my phone but PAYG.
All my money disappeared in a few hours and i’m not even sure how.
Perhaps my phone uploaded some images, or updated google play, but I put £10 on in the morning, and by evening time my balance was £0. And I hadn’t watched any youtubes, or played any games or even install anything new. Their data costs are too high for such a slow network.
£17,650 is cheap for the publicity it will create, and they probably did a deal with Deliveroo, so it’s less than that.
Keep the pizza, give me VoLTE and WiFi Calling instead.
@Mark a bit cheeky of Giffgaff who put the post up and then decided to add an extra hurdle by stating for entries to be valid you had to tag someone as well (hundreds if not the thousand didn’t)
The Terms and conditions didn’t state the need to tag either (same as what you posted above)
I answered and tagged. Took a screen grab of my entry showing only 640 other comments, but didn’t get a voucher. If they don’t run competitions like this fairly, it makes you wonder what happens with bigger prize competitions.
