Mobile provider spusu, which holds a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) agreement via BTWholesale to harness EE’s national 4G and 5G network, today claims to have launched its “most affordable plan yet” at just £4.90 per month.
As above, the spusu 5 plan costs £4.90 per month on a rolling monthly term and for that customers will get 5GB of data (mobile broadband), as well as unlimited calls and texts, 500 free international minutes and free EU roaming (roaming data is capped to just 3GB). The plan also includes support for 5G, VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling.
“We know that customers are looking for reliability and value, particularly as mobile prices continue to rise across the industry,” said Christian Banhans, UK managing director of spusu. “spusu 5 is our most affordable plan yet, offering everything a customer needs — without sacrificing quality — for less than £5 a month, with the price frozen until 2026“.

Sorry. No data so far.
There are some fantastic sim only deals with the MVNOs at the minute. Anyone going sim only should avoid the main networks like the plague.
Always worth trying retentions of the main networks first if you’re with one already. EE have always beat what I could get elsewhere and on a 12month contract.
I agree. I saw something about Slice Mobile in the paper which is basically Lyca owned but they have really good app based CS. Spusu routes calls through the EU which is the only downside and you get an international dialtone.
I’d be cautious of Slice Mobile — not only because of the Lyca connection, but also because their terms allow them to block “certain websites”… They give an example of VoIP, which doesn’t fill me with confidence — IMO mobile networks shouldn’t be blocking websites just because they might help customers to legitimately pay less.
John, the dialtone issue has been sorted long time ago. This is not to say that I like the quality of their voice line, hence I’m using them on a dualsim phone, as main data provider and occasional calls only.
Must admit I tried Spusu a few months ago….and the call quality was dire…
do you think the call quality will be worse than the rest of the EE network ??
Spusu run their own IMS which is why their call quality is so poor as it’s nothing to do with EE.
Lebara is the best out there. Been with them a few years and they offer excellent value for money
Just joined them, was with Smarty for 6 months but the 3 signal is not great where I live, Vodafone (which Lebara use) is much better.
Yes – 2 years with Lebara for me and absolutely no complaints. £4.50 per month for 5GB with 100mins of international calls bundled.
I also enjoy the international roaming bolt ons which are very reasonably priced for my trips to Canada. I no longer have any hassles with a separate SIM and temporary mobile number for contact when roaming.
Yeah Lebara definitely the best IMO. They also do 5gb data, with EU roaming and international calls for £4.90 via uswitch. You can normally get offers like first 6 months for a £1 or less too! Vodafone signal generally okay where I am too.
Lebara uses Vodafone while Spusu uses EE, so “best” will depend a lot on how each network performs in your area.
Only problem with lebara is they don’t include roaming in Switzerland. I left them because of that otherwise good provider!
Tried SPUSU for 5-6 months. Couldn’t receive it send texts over WiFi calling. Useless for 2FA.
Wife’s iphone kept getting WiFi calling turned off, often during a call. I was getting a lot of grief.
Both switched to 1pmobile (another EE MVNO) and all problems went away
thank you for the advert
No Spusu plan can “offer everything a customer needs” as the range of phones on which they support WiFi calling is quite small.
And even on an allegedly supported Samsung one, as another commentard noted, SMS over WiFi calling is unreliable, so customers “looking for reliability” will need to look elsewhere, as we did.
1p, also on the EE network, has been great so far.
WiFi calling is hardly a killer feature that a lot of people need!
@Bob – It’s absolutely a “killer feature” for many rural homes. Not many people, true.
I’m living on the edge of a large urban sprawl and I also rely on WiFi calling for a reliable service. It was top of my list when deciding to move to Lebara.
Tried Spusu which was actually quite good and I liked the features available in the my account section. Sadly, they don’t cater for Pixel devices and as such I didn’t get VoLTE, WiFi calling or even 5G access.
Ended up leaving for another EE MVNO which does support Pixel’s!
Not sure what everyones issues are about. Have been with spusu for a while. Call quality fine, volte works fine (Samsung S24+), good coverage due to it being on EE’s network. Have a slight doubt about internet speeds and ping times as they route traffic through Austria
Does anyone know if or when Spusu will have access to 5G SA network. Or know of any MVNO’s that do use 5G SA access
