The not-for-profit and member‑owned London Internet Exchange (LINX), which handles a large chunk of UK and global data traffic through their switches via around 900 members (broadband ISPs, mobile operators etc.), has today been handed the Best of British Businesses for 2026 award by Business Reporter.
The Best of British Business awards by Business Reporter, in partnership with The Independent newspaper, has been designed to help highlight leading UK companies driving innovation and economic growth in 2026. Key themes include AI integration, cybersecurity, resilient global trade, and sustainable development.
For an organisation that has helped to power the nation’s critical connectivity largely behind the scenes, LINX said this accolade has helped to reinforce their “essential role in ensuring the UK’s digital resilience, economic competitiveness, and global reputation for technological excellence“.

While proudly rooted in the UK, LINX’s influence also extends globally. Since 2014, LINX NoVA in Ashburn, Virginia the most connected region in the United States — has provided world‑class interconnection services for many networks. In 2023, LINX expanded into Africa to support one of the world’s fastest‑growing digital regions. This initiative began with LINX Nairobi in 2023, followed by LINX Mombasa in early 2025. LINX launched LINX Accra in Ghana towards the end of 2025.
