Digital entertainment platform Netgem TV appears to have recently slashed the price of their new UltraHD (4K) IPTV set-top-box – PLEIO, which includes support for the UK’s newest broadband-based live TV streaming service (Freely) and can now be had for just £80.
Take note that PLEIO (retail via Amazon – affiliate link) is not designed to fully record TV shows. But despite the price cut it does still ship with the added bonus of a 12-months subscription to their premium content service (you don’t have to keep the subscription after it ends), which normally costs £9.99 per month. The PLEIO subscription gives access to 250+ Cloud Games and 150+ extra TV channels.
The latest price cut makes the PLEIO set-top-box (includes remote control and game controller) slightly cheaper than Manhattan TV’s recently launched budget Aero 4K box (details), which at the time of writing can be purchased on Amazon for £89. But for those with deeper pockets there’s always the PVR capable Humax AuraEZ (FHR-6000T), yet that’ll set you back around £250, and it’s recording capability only works via the old Freeview signal (you can’t record when using Freely).

I believe it’s a Prime Day Sale offer (June 23rd to 26th) and not a permanent price cut.
If they keep that pricing, we might see some good used deals soon. £120 a year,or get a new box and a years sub for £80, if you sell the old for say £20 (you’d likely get more IMHO) then that’s half price
I wonder if you can have say two boxes sharing a subscription?
I wonder what percentage of buyers would care about the subscription stuff, though. Can’t say I’ve made much use of the free 12 month subscription since getting mine. I’d have thought a lot of buyers will be getting this device purely for subscription-free TV.
I understand that the game controller is bundled in an attempt to get people to try the games and then continue with a subscription, but just give up on that and make it optional. You’re probably no more than a couple years away from shutting the game service down anyway, even Sky couldn’t make their Kinect-style service attractive to customers already used to paying premium pricing for a service.
Trying to connect my Google TV Compatible Webcam, but I cant seem to find a Hub that works with the Pleio. Anyone get a Hub working?
