Giffgaff add contract buyout worth £300 to UK full fibre broadband plans

giffgaff broadband contract buyout

Mobile operator and internet provider giffgaff, which has already made their new full fibre (FTTP) broadband packages available to 4.2 million premises via nexfibre and Virgin Media’s UK networks, has moved to further entice new customers to the service by offering to buy them out of their existing contracts (worth up to £300 in billing credits).

The new contract buyout (switching credit) is intended to help customers who switch to giffgaff’s broadband service to cover some or all of the Early Termination Charges (ETC) that may have been levelled against them by their losing / old ISP. But this usually only applies if you attempt to leave your old provider’s contract early, since doing so outside of the minimum term often won’t attract ETCs.

A spokesperson for giffgaff told ISPreview: “We’ll cover up to £300 credit for new members who are leaving a provider they’re still in contract with, and have placed an order with us between 29 August and 30 October 2026. They’ll just need to pay their old provider’s exit fee then upload their final bill and enter the amount in their account with us. After their second monthly payment this will then be added as credit to their giffgaff broadband account, which will then pay for their monthly broadband bill.”

The contract buyout offer currently only applies to customers who take out one of their contracted 24-month term packages. New customers of the service typically pay from just £25 per month for 200Mbps (symmetric) speeds on a 24-month term, which rises to £32 for their top 900Mbps package.

The packages also include free setup, unlimited usage, an included wireless router and a pledge of “no mid-term price rises“. You can optionally take a shorter monthly (rolling) plan for just a few pounds extra. Automatic switching from Virgin Media to giffgaff should also soon become possible (here).
