
New independent data reveals that alternative broadband provider DIGI, which is part of the Romanian telecoms company DIGI Communications and is deploying in the UK via WhyFibre (Fiber One Limited), has now expanded their 10Gbps speed Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network to cover over 10,000 premises (RFS).
The underlying network deployment has been going on for a while, but this only recently started to go live for UK consumers via the DIGI retail brand (here). The operator’s future deployment plans continue to remain unclear, although Thinkbroadband’s latest data shows that their service is now live across over 10,000 premises in locations (patchy) such as Houghton Regis, Luton, Letchworth, Hitchin, Stevenage, St Albans, Hemel Hempstead, Watford, Hertford and Hoddesdon.
Consumers covered by this network can pick from three broadband packages, with aggressively competitive pricing that starts at £15 per month for symmetric speeds of 1Gbps, £20 for 2.5Gbps or just £25 for 10Gbps (c.7-8Gbps would be more realistic due to network overheads and UK advertising rules). The provider also promises “no sudden price hikes, no hidden fees [and] no fine print“.

The latest data indicates that DIGI is continuing their network deployment, although we’ve yet to receive any official announcements from the company.
