ISP Ogi Grows to 100 Employees for Full Fibre Rollout in Wales

UK ISP Ogi (Spectrum Internet), which is being backed by investment from Infracapital, has today announced that they’ve grown to employ 100 people. The new staff will help to support the first phase of their £200m project (here) to rollout a Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network to 150,000 premises in South Wales by 2025.

Openreach (BT) might have shelved the use of hybrid fibre G.fast (ITU G.9701) broadband technology in the UK, but the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has continued to develop a sequel to that technology called MGfast (G.9711) and it will soon become more widely available, with speeds of up to 8Gbps being promised.

Broadband ISP Plusnet has begun to inform existing customers of their YouView (IPTV) powered Pay TV box that they’ve decided to completely close the service from 1st November 2021. Subscribers will be allowed to keep their set-top-box and can continue to use it to watch Freeview channels or to access their players and apps.

Mobile operator EE has announced that their “Stay Connected” feature, which effectively enables unlimited mobile broadband use on even 4G or 5G Pay Monthly plans with capped data allowances, has been extended to work with ‘Essential’ and ‘Smart’ plans on tablets, laptops and mobile WiFi router devices, as well as data SIMs.

Neos Completes Full Fibre Upgrade Across Perth and Kinross

Neos Networks, which operates a 24,480km+ long fibre network via over 477 related Points of Presence (PoPs) across the UK, has completed its £1.5m state aid supported Local Full Fibre Network (LFFN) rollout project in Perth, Scotland, ahead of schedule.
