Ofcom has this morning announced that they will need “an additional two months” to undertake further analysis of Openreach’s “Equinox 2” discount scheme, which will delay the operator’s planned 1st April 2023 launch of cheaper wholesale prices on their Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based broadband ISP products.

Mobile benchmarking firm Opensignal has published the results of their latest study, which reveals that the fastest UK city for 5G (mobile broadband) internet download speeds is Birmingham (162.7Mbps), while the West Midlands in England tops the table for fastest UK regions on 151.4Mbps.

Mobile operator Three UK has published their latest financial results, which reveals that over 4,250 sites (up from 2,200 last year) are now live with 5G – reflecting 60% UK outdoor population coverage. The average data (mobile broadband) usage per customer has also reached 25.1 GigaBytes per month (up from 19GB).

The latest annual study from Cable.co.uk has tested fixed broadband ISP packages from 219 countries to create a global price comparison, which finds that the UK ranks 76th cheapest (vs 92nd last year), with an average monthly cost of $34.19 (£28.42). But we rank 104th cheapest for average cost per megabit ($0.61).

Consultancy firm FarrPoint has today posted the results of a recent survey they conducted alongside the Connecting Cheshire (Digital Cheshire) partnership to measure 4G mobile (mobile broadband) coverage across the region’s “main transport routes” (i.e. motorways, A and B roads), which reveals a mixed picture of network reach.
