The Government’s Building Digital UK team has today begun a new consultation to help them identify what existing or planned commercial gigabit-capable broadband coverage exists in Essex (England), which will help to establish the areas where public investment may be needed to deploy the service.

CityFibre UK has reached a new partnership with landlord and housing developer Thirteen Group, which thanks to a blanket wayleave agreement will ensure that 12,500 of their customers in Middlesbrough (North Yorkshire, England) can gain access to a 1Gbps Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based broadband ISP network.

The Scottish Government‘s Connectivity Minister, Paul Wheelhouse, has given a progress update on their £579m Reaching 100% (R100) project, which is extending “superfast broadband” (30Mbps+) to the final 5-6% of poorly served premises (mostly via FTTP). The main focus was on voucher delays and the LOT 1 (Highlands) contract.

Swedish operator VXFIBER (inc. subsidiary LilaConnect) will today announce the start of their multi-million pound project to deploy a new Dark Fibre and gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based broadband ISP network across the large town of Colchester in Essex (England), which aims to cover c.25,000 premises.

CityFibre UK has today announced that they’re investing £30m to support the rollout of a new 1Gbps Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network to homes and businesses in the Dorset towns of Poole and Christchurch, which will complement their existing deployment in the neighbouring city of Bournemouth.

CityFibre has today confirmed some details of their £20 million rollout plan for a new 1Gbps Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network to homes and businesses in the large West Midlands (England) town of Solihull, which is home to 123,000 people. The first construction work is due to begin in April 2021.
