Broadband ISP Andrews and Arnold Trial UK 2.5Gbps Speeds via CityFibre

Internet provider Andrews & Arnold (AAISP) this month became the latest ISP to introduce symmetric broadband speeds capable of harnessing the top 2.5Gbps (2500Mbps) tier on CityFibre’s growing Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network, which is currently available to around 4 million premises across the UK. But for now it’s only a trial with limited availability.

Energy and communications provider Telecom Plus, which trades as Utility Warehouse (UW), has today published their latest Half Year Results (H1 2025) to 30th Sept 2024 and revealed that their broadband ISP grew its total UK customer base to 384,890 (up by 10.09k since H2 2024) and their mobile base hit 526,167 (up by 59.95k).

Vodafone UK Tops 1.48 Million Broadband and 18.47M Mobile Users

Mobile operator and ISP Vodafone UK has today published their Q2 FY25 financial results, which reveals that their fixed line broadband base grew again to total 1.477 million customers (up by 50k in Q2 vs 44k in Q1) and their mobile base fell again to total 18.474 million (down by -93k in Q2 vs -71k in Q1).

CityFibre Agrees to Sell UK Broadband ISP Lit Fibre to co-Founders

Lightning Fibre Connect First FTTP Broadband Customer in Worthing

Eastbourne-based alternative network and UK ISP Lightning Fibre has announced that they’ve just connected their first customer in the seaside town of Worthing (West Sussex) to FTTP broadband. This is part of their recently agreed expansion (here) to harness CityFibre’s existing network across the Brighton & Hove and Worthing areas.

Cambridgeshire UK Updates on Progress of Dig Once Fibre Build

The Connecting Cambridgeshire project, which is led by the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority, has today issued a progress update on their “Dig Once” policy and efforts to accelerate the roll-out of gigabit broadband across the county, with 21.6km of new fibre ducting already installed or soon to be deployed. Both Cityfibre and Gigaclear have now harnessed this.

Broadband ISP connections on CityFibre’s UK full fibre (FTTP) network in Glasgow have been knocked offline after a potential fire caused damage to the operator’s local Fibre Exchange (FEX) last night, which took down their core link (gla1215). But unusually they’re having to pull in a specialist electrician from Portsmouth as they don’t have any in Scotland.

Progress Update on CityFibre’s UK Rollout of 10Gbps XGS-PON Broadband

Network operator CityFibre has given ISPreview an update on the effort to upgrade their GPON based Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network for ISPs to XGS-PON, which can handle broadband speeds of up to 10Gbps (Gigabits per second).
