After a bit of a delay, CityFibre has confirmed that their local civil engineering partner, MAP Group (UK), has finally started work to rollout a new 1Gbps Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based broadband ISP network across the large North Yorkshire (England) town of Middlesbrough – costing £42m.

Budget UK broadband ISP TalkTalk has today confirmed that their 506Mbps Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based ‘Future Fibre‘ package is now available on CityFibre’s network in Inverness (Scotland) and Coventry. Meanwhile another ISP, BrawBand (HighNet), is due to live on CF’s fibre in Glasgow and Renfrewshire.

Sometimes it’s interesting to probe a little deeper into the build strategies of different “full fibre” networks, and we recently did just that with CityFibre after seeing a number of instances where the operator’s civil engineering contractors seemed to be skipping lateral cuts in some of their Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) deployments.

CityFibre has today committed an additional £12.5 million to help boost their ongoing deployment of a new 1Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network in the West Midlands city of Coventry, which will see them reach “tens of thousands more homes and businesses” across the location.

The consumer broadband division of UK ISP Triangle Networks, known as Fibrehop, has today confirmed that they’ll soon become available to homes across CityFibre’s 1Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network in Cheltenham, Gloucester, Weston-Super-Mare, Bath, Swindon, Leicester and Plymouth.

Budget UK ISP TalkTalk has today announced that their new CityFibre and Openreach based ‘Future Fibre‘ packages, which offer average top speeds of up to 506Mbps via Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) technology, have now become available to homes in the Suffolk (England) town of Ipswich.

UK ISP Giganet has just connected their 100th customer to CityFibre’s new 1Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network in the south coast city of Portsmouth (Hampshire, UK). This might not sound like much, but for a smaller provider it comes only two months after the service first started to go live.

CityFibre and their civil engineering partner Telent have today broken ground on a new £60m project in the Lancashire seaside town of Blackpool, which aims to deploy a gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based broadband ISP network to cover nearly all local homes and businesses.

CityFibre has announced that their £40m roll-out of a new 1Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network in the Buckinghamshire town of Milton Keynes, which was substantially completed at the end of last year (i.e. they still had a bit left to do), is to be expanded to reach an additional 7,000 homes.

A new blanket council wayleave agreement, which has been approved by social housing provider Wolverhampton Homes and CityFibre, looks set to see the latter extend their new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based broadband ISP network to cover more than 22,700 extra homes in the West Midland’s (England) city.

The UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, has this afternoon praised broadband ISPs for helping to create more than 22,000 new jobs over the past year as “forecasts for gigabit rollout are revised further upwards,” which is an interesting statement coming so soon after the Government’s decision to downgrade their own coverage target.

A new report from WIK-Consult, which was commissioned by CityFibre, has claimed that the introduction of a new UK labelling system, with better information on broadband services, could increase consumer take-up of gigabit Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) ISP products by 40% (i.e. an extra 1.6 million homes by 2025).

Both sides of the business are now building networks around Newcastle and, on top of that, they’re about to hop on Cityfibre’s platform.

CityFibre UK has reached a new partnership with landlord and housing developer Thirteen Group, which thanks to a blanket wayleave agreement will ensure that 12,500 of their customers in Middlesbrough (North Yorkshire, England) can gain access to a 1Gbps Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based broadband ISP network.

CityFibre UK has today announced that they’re investing £30m to support the rollout of a new 1Gbps Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network to homes and businesses in the Dorset towns of Poole and Christchurch, which will complement their existing deployment in the neighbouring city of Bournemouth.
