Some customers of Lyca Mobile, which is a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) on EE’s (BT) national platform (previously O2), have – since Friday – been reporting that they’ve been unable to make any mobile calls or send text (SMS) messages. Most customers also report that they’ve been unable to get through to Lyca’s support.

Opensignal has published their latest biannual Mobile Network Experience Report for H2 2023, which benchmarks the 4G and 5G (mobile broadband) services from all four primary UK mobile operators – EE, Vodafone, O2 and Three UK – to find which ones deliver the best performance. Overall, EE and Three UK seem to fair the best.

Customers of BT’s national UK network of free and premium public WiFi hotspots, which are currently branded as BT Wi-Fi, have noted that the operator recently started to inform users that the service is shortly going to be rebranded under the EE WiFi name.

Transport for London (TfL) – in partnership with Boldyn Networks – today confirmed that Euston station on the Charing Cross branch platforms has today become the latest place on the London Underground to go live with 4G and 5G mobile (mobile broadband) cover, which customers of EE, Vodafone, O2 and Three UK will benefit from.

Broadband ISP and mobile network operator EE (BT) has announced that it is in the process of updating their existing SCAM and SPAM blocking technologies, which should enable them to root out additional scam tactics (e.g. “Hi Mum, Hi Dad” scams) and help protect consumers from hard to spot scams.

Broadband ISP and mobile operator EE (BT) has today confirmed our leak from May 2023 (here) by announcing that they’ve agreed a new partnership with Qualcomm Technologies, which will see their home customers becoming some of the first in the world to gain access to future Wi-Fi 7 technology in 2024.

Mobile operator and broadband ISP EE has announced that it is an official partner of the new ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III‘ video game for the UK, which means that customers of the service will receive a range of special benefits (e.g. Beta Access, Calling Cards, Charms and Emblems).

At present most 5G networks are data-only (mobile broadband) services, but EE (BT) has revealed that it recently carried out the UK’s first call over 5G in the network using Voice over New Radio (VoNR or Vo5G) technology. But it’s unclear precisely how long we’ll have to wait before this becomes common place.

Mobile operator EE (BT) has just announced that their ongoing deployment of a 4G and 5G (mobile broadband) network on the London Underground – in partnership with Boldyn Networks and Nokia – has now reached the first West End stations, starting with Oxford Circus and Tottenham Court Road. Telecoms giant BT (EE) and network supplier Nokia claim to have pushed mobile broadband upload speeds to over 230Mbps on a new trial network, which operated by harnessing the uplink aggregation of two carrier components in live spectrum for a 5G Standalone (SA) network.

Mobile operator and broadband ISP EE appears to have finally and quietly launched their IP-based Digital Home Phone service this month, which will ultimately replace their old analogue phone service and, perhaps unsurprisingly, is largely just a re-branded variant of BT’s existing Digital Voice product.
