UK ISP Lightspeed Broadband, which is deploying a Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network across the East of England region as part of a £300m investment (here and here), has today confirmed that they’ve chosen to go with Nokia’s 10Gbps (symmetric) capable XGS-PON technology and whole-home Wi-Fi 6 kit to power their service.

The B4RN (Broadband for the Rural North) project, which is deploying a 10Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network across rural premises in several English counties, has revealed that they’ve now covered around 17,000 premises (8,600 connected customers) and are trialling a new £5 Connect Plus tariff.

UK ISP Lightspeed Broadband, which is building a new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network across the East of England region as part of a £300m investment (here), has today unveiled the second wave of build locations that will extend into new parts of Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex.

UK ISP County Broadband, which is currently deploying a 1Gbps Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) service across rural parts of Cambridgeshire, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk in England, has today given itself a pat on the back after reporting a seven-fold (725%) increase in “business growth” (i.e. going from 16 employees in early 2018 to 116 now).

The Government’s Building Digital UK team has today begun a new consultation to help them identify what existing or planned commercial gigabit-capable broadband coverage exists in Essex (England), which will help to establish the areas where public investment may be needed to deploy the service.

Swedish operator VXFIBER (inc. subsidiary LilaConnect) will today announce the start of their multi-million pound project to deploy a new Dark Fibre and gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based broadband ISP network across the large town of Colchester in Essex (England), which aims to cover c.25,000 premises.

Colchester-based ISP County Broadband, which is supported by a £46m investment from Aviva and working to roll-out a new 1Gbps Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network across the rural East of England, has donated an “initial batch” of 10 new tablets to St Andrew’s Primary School in Weeley.

Broadband ISP Swish Fibre, which is currently building a new Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network to cover 250,000 premises across the Home Counties of England, has moved to match B4RN’s example (here) by conducting a real-world speed test of their XGSPON based platform – hitting 7.68Gbps download.

The CEO of rural UK full fibre ISP B4RN (Broadband for the Rural North), Barry Forde, has become the first person to sign-up to the provider’s new 10Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) plan. The first live speed test of this produced a download speed of 8341Mbps and uploads of 6644Mbps, with latency of just 1ms.

New UK ISP People’s Fibre, which in June 2020 scrapped their plan to deploy a 1Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network in Deeside (Wales) due to Openreach’s rival rollout (here), has now revealed that they intend to cover Braintree in Essex. Except Gigaclear also plan to cover the area.

Rural focused UK ISP Gigaclear has announced that their existing deployment of gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband technology in the Braintree District of Essex is to be extended into the local town of the same name. As a result the provider now expects to cover 20,000 premises in the area.
