The UK Government has handed £2.1m to support a bid by the West Essex and East Hertfordshire Digital Innovation Zone and Superfast Essex projects, which will extend superfast broadband to 113 doctors surgeries and 680 homes across the Broxbourne, East Hertfordshire, Epping Forest, Harlow and Uttlesford areas.

The Buckinghamshire County Council (BCC) in England has finally revealed their Phase 2 roll-out plan for expanding the availability of “superfast broadband” (24-30Mbps+) in the county, which will work with Openreach (BT) to reach “up to” 11,000 additional premises and achieve 95% coverage by June 2018.

London-based ISP NextGenAccess has hinted at plans to expand its fibre optic based broadband network into more areas that are currently outside the coverage of the BT’s UK FTTC/P roll-out, with a particular reference being made to “rural areas and non-city centre data centres and technology hubs.”
