Virgin Media Completes Another 4000 FTTP Premises in Manchester

Cable ISP Virgin Media UK has today announced that they’ve completed the rollout of their 500Mbps+ capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based DOCSIS / RFoG broadband and phone network to cover 4,000 extra homes in the Gorton area of Manchester.

A new wayleave (land access) agreement means that cable operator Virgin Media will now be able to extend their 500Mbps+ broadband and TV network to cover an additional 2,700 homes in the north of Manchester, which once completed will give them a total coverage in the metropolitan region of 714,000 premises.

Virgin Media UK Joins Tameside Digital Infrastructure Cooperative

Cable ISP Virgin Media has today announced that they’ve joined the Tameside’s Digital Infrastructure Cooperative (TDIC), which should enable them to further extend their broadband network via commercial re-use of around 50km of existing local authority owned cable ducts and fibre optic cable.

Telcom Networks has chosen the 160km long ‘The Loop‘ fibre optic network from Gamma to deliver multi-Gigabit broadband and Ethernet data speeds to potentially hundreds of businesses across Manchester. LINX Reduce Port Fees for ISPs Using the Manchester Internet Exchange
