Full Fibre network builder Netomnia – supported by broadband ISP partner YouFibre – has today added a second “major city” (after Liverpool) to their UK rollout of a new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP / XGS-PON) network, which will see them invest £36m to cover 120,000 premises in Oxford (England).

Macquarie Capital backed UK ISP Voneus, which holds a “near term” plan to cover 100,000 homes in rural areas with their Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network (here), has signed a new partnership with Glenevin Construction to reach 17,000 homes across Oxfordshire and Warwickshire in England.

The Broadband Delivery UK team have just published a new batch of Public Reviews (PR) and Open Market Reviews (OMR) for additional parts of England – mostly covered by Phase 2 of the Government’s £5bn Project Gigabit broadband rollout. Both aim to identify which areas need state aid support for future builds.

Alternative UK broadband ISP Swish Fibre, which is being backed by Fern Trading in its plan to build a new 10Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP network across 250,000 premises in the Home Counties (here), has stepped in to rescue troubled provider People’s Fibre after they recently fell into administration.

Smaller UK alternative network ISPs are increasingly starting to butt heads in some of the same areas. The latest example comes from the small market town of Thame in Oxfordshire (England), where Swish Fibre and Gigaclear have both started to go live with a new full fibre broadband network, within days of each other.

Some 16,000 extra premises across rural parts of West Oxfordshire in England can now access a gigabit speed Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network after Gigaclear completed its local project, worth £21m, in the district. The area has now also achieved almost universal (99%+) coverage of “superfast broadband” (30Mbps).

UK ISP Zzoomm has today confirmed that their new 10Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network will next be expanded into the Berkshire (England) towns of Sandhurst and Crowthorne. The rollout is expected to cover 10,500 homes and businesses in the two locations.

Rural focused UK broadband ISP Gigaclear has begun a new phase of network expansion in their existing deployment areas, which will see their Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) service being extended into some places that they’d initially missed (infill). One of the first towns to benefit will be Chipping Norton in West Oxfordshire.
