The Citizens Advice agency has once again criticised the way in which some home broadband ISPs promote their services, such as via allegedly “hidden charges” like phone line rental, starter fees and router delivery costs.

ISP TalkTalk appears to have somewhat broken with tradition this morning by issuing a surprisingly vague trading update for the second quarter of 2015, which reveals very little except to confirm that the migration of Tesco’s broadband customers onto their network has “begun well” and should complete over the coming months.

The Government is nearly ready to join with Rights Holders and four of the country’s largest broadband ISPs to kick off a major “multi-media education campaign“, which will encourage Internet users to “do the right thing” and use legal services instead of piracy. Warning letters (email alerts) will also be sent to some broadband subscribers.

UK ISP TalkTalk has announced that their Plus TV bundle of unlimited broadband, phone (anytime calls), premium TV (YouView) and a free mobile SIM, which is priced at £10 per month and comes with a £75 Love2shop voucher, now also includes 6 months of free HD access to video streaming service Netflix (until 30th July).

A new report claims that around 7 out of 10 Sky Broadband customers have enabled the ISPs network-level filtering (Parental Controls), which was enforcedly introduced last year by all of the largest broadband ISPs to help block “adult content” from young eyes. Sadly it doesn’t always work as intended.

Internet provider TalkTalk has revealed the first package and price details for their new 940Mbps capable Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH/P) broadband network in the city of York (England), which as we revealed last month is being called Ultra Fibre Optic (UFO). After several years and various legal challenges the UK telecoms regulator has proposed what could be the final resolution to a long running dispute relating to BT’s overcharging for business Ethernet services, which initially required them to repay £94.8m to Sky (Sky Broadband), TalkTalk, Virgin Media, Cable & Wireless Worldwide (Vodafone) and Verizon.

Budget Internet provider TalkTalk has announced that their ‘up to’ 38Mbps capable unlimited “Superfast Fibre Broadband” (FTTC) package, which is currently priced at just £5 per month for the first 12 months of service (£15 thereafter), has now added free installation into the mix (saving another one-off fee of £25).
