In an effort to retake the budget crown TalkTalk has claimed that they will tomorrow launch “Britain’s best value unlimited fibre” package, which offers broadband speeds of up to 38Mbps (FTTC / VDSL2) for just £25 per month on a 24 month contract term.
As usual subscribers can expect to receive unlimited usage, free setup, included line rental, a wireless “Super Router” and various other features (e.g. network-level Parental Controls and Internet Security). The ISP also claims that they’re “guaranteeing no mid-contract price hikes and the offer is open to both new and existing TalkTalk customers” (existing customers must be on a contract of at least 30 days).
Interestingly the provider’s press release makes no mention of their free Mobile SIM (500MB data, 200 mins, unlimited texts) service, which is normally bundled alongside, and we’re currently checking to see whether this is still included.

Faster Fibre (up to 38Mbps / 2Mbps upload)
Price: £25.00 per month for 24 months (£32 thereafter)
So is this really Britain’s “best value” unlimited fibre package? The answer may in part depend upon how to interpret the word “value” and whether locking yourself in for 24 months is worth the risk.
Meanwhile Plusnet, Vodafone and Origin Broadband all appear to have similarly priced products for the same sort of service, albeit only on an 18 month term (Plusnet’s service also adds a £25 setup fee). Consumers will be able to order this from tomorrow and it will then remain available to buy until 1st June 2017.
UPDATE:
We can confirm that the free SIM will still be included, which adds a lot to the “value” side of things.
