A new survey of 3,975 UK people who had a contract for a home broadband ISP in December 2022 and January 2023, which was conducted by Which?, has found that 53% have experienced “connection issues” in the past year (e.g. very slow speeds, connection drop-outs etc.) and Sky Broadband were the worst offender.

UK ISP Zen Internet recently announced that they’d begun making older “refurbished” versions of their EveryRoom mesh WiFi extender service and hardware (repeaters) available to broadband customers, which only cost £6 per month instead of the usual £9 per month for the new kit. We’ve lost count now of how many times ISPreview has had to say this over the years, but there are still far too many broadband ISPs in the UK – particularly larger players – that fail to clearly inform their customers of how much their package will cost post-contract. As a result, consumers often feel misled when it comes time to re-contract.

Consumer magazine Which? has published a partial summary of the results from their latest biannual 2023 survey of the best and worst broadband ISPs, which once again named Zen Internet as the best overall provider (customer satisfaction score of 81%), while TalkTalk were found to be the worst of the major players.

The annual Broadband Genie 2023 survey has just named home broadband ISP Plusnet as the “Best Provider” of the year and also the “Best Value for Money“, while a variety of other internet providers also scooped various other awards across several different categories.

Rochdale-based UK ISP Zen Internet has today announced somewhat of a reverse after the provider’s current CEO, Paul Stobart, announced his intention to retire at the end of March 2023, after five years in the role. Replacing him will be the company’s original CEO, and current Founder and Chairman, Richard Tang.

UK ISP Zen Internet has put out a short and very simplified summary of broadband traffic across their network during 2022, which among other things reveals that sporting (streaming) and gaming (software) releases contributed to a general 21% increase in “peak” internet traffic in 2022 vs 2021.

UK ISP Zen Internet has confirmed to ISPreview.co.uk that their work to make their gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband packages available – nationwide – across Cityfibre’s entire network will take longer than originally announced, with completion now expected by the “end of 2023“.

Broadband ISP Zen Internet has informed us that last night’s FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 match between England and Wales, which saw England walk away with a 3-0 win, resulted in a mild internet traffic peak between 7pm and 9pm that was 9% more than the average traffic for that day and time.

Broadband ISP Zen Internet has today resolved a problem, which appears to have been occurring for almost two weeks, that caused some of their wholesale partners and related fibre (FTTC and FTTP) customers to suffer from performance problems (e.g. slower than expected speeds, poor latency and high packet loss).

Rochdale-based UK ISP Zen Internet has today introduced a range of “price drops” across their Full Fibre (FTTP) broadband packages, as well as their SOGEA (FTTC), EveryRoom and Digital Voice offerings. The new prices are available to both new customers and existing users who have reached the end of their contract.

A new Censuswide survey of 2,001 UK adults (aged 16+) that have broadband, which was commissioned by ISP Zen Internet and conducted during May 2022, has found that 32% of respondents still aren’t confident they can define what “full fibre” is – that’s up from 28% when the same question was asked in 2021.

CityFibre UK has today announced that they’ve started the construction phase of their £30m project to deploy a new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network in the Greater Manchester town of Rochdale (England), which is being supported by civil engineering firm Network PLUS.
