Edinburgh-based ISP TenTel, which specialises in offering a mix of UK focused broadband and phone packages with short-term contract options, has hailed the “fantastic growth” of their service and are now aiming to have 20,000 customers by July 2017.
According The National, TenTel currently has over 10,000 customers and has just added another 2,000 in October alone. Not bad for a smaller provider. The business has also increased its total staff count from 30 to more than 80 people and they’re going to add another 10 to that by Christmas.
The growth is also being supported by an investment (loan) of £500,000 from the Barclays Innovation Finance fund, which was announced in August 2016 as a means to help meet rising demand for their service by supporting the addition of new staff and IT services (here).
Robert McKechnie, TenTel’s Managing Director, said:
“The last 12 months have seen fantastic growth for TenTel and our record figures are testament to this. We have established ourselves as one of the fastest-growing independent internet service providers in the UK, with more than 10 per cent revenue growth month-on-month.”
Mind you the “new” target of 20,000 customers by July 2017 isn’t all that new because back in 2013 they expected to achieve the same number within their first year of operation, which didn’t quite pan out (not forgetting that they also aspired to reach 100,000 within the first 5 years). However this time around the 20,000 figure looks much more likely to be achieved.
