Earlier this year giffgaff announced that, in order to help ease the burden of rising costs, they would freeze the prices on all of their UK tariffs for the rest of 2022. The good news is that they’ve now made the decision to extend this by freezing their UK prices until the end of 2023.
The move comes at a time when many mobile network operators (MNO), particularly a lot of the largest players, have instead been hiking their prices above the current level of surging inflation. By comparison, Giffgaff’s decision means there will not be any price rises for calls, texts, and data (mobile broadband) made or used within the UK for the next 15 months, “giving you all one less thing to worry about“.
Just to be clear. The price freeze applies to their Pay As You Go (PAYG), goodybags, existing products and all UK rates only until 31st December 2023. But it naturally excludes international rates and roaming, which are subject to different charges from third-party operators.

Giffgaff CEO, Ash Schofield, said:
“We recognise that our members have enough to worry about right now with rising costs of household bills, without thinking about their mobile phone bills for the year ahead too. That’s why we’re giving them certainty by fixing our UK prices until the end of 2023. By sharing the news well in advance of the new year, we hope this gives our members peace of mind that their giffgaff bills won’t increase.”
The change itself was actually announced last week, but they’ve only now issued a proper press release.
They can fix there prices, when they are not even that competitive compared to other MVNO like Lebara
For example , all with unlimited mins/txt
giffgaff 1gb £6, 3gb £8
Lebara 5gb £4.95 oh and 100 international mins , 5g , WiFi calling
Umm you do realise that Giff Gaff do offer 5G now and have done for some time.
ID mobile, 20GB pm +rollover, unlimited calls & texts, plus calls in EU all for £8pm.
its on 3, which I’ve been with since ~2008 so I’m aware of the cons, but £8 for what is effectively 40GB is amazing value.
No , but till does not make th competitive on pricing , as do Lebara
Too late I already switched to smarty years ago
Giffgaff pay payback for posting on their community forum and for recruiting other members.
but giffgaff also runs on the UK’s slowest network, has uncompetitive prices compared to most, has no VoLTE, no WiFi calling, is at the bottom of the barrel for prioritization so has shocking data speeds and has no customer service. but hey, at least they pay you to get others to join the uk’s shittest network since they really aren’t going to get customers any other way (people who use giffgaff swear its the best until they try the competition lol)
Giffgaff the UK’s shittest network….does have a certain ring to it! Lol
I get unlimited data from Voxi for £15 a month, 30 day rolling contract.
Problem is GiffGaff uses the O2 network which is absolutely dog s**t!
Giffgaff has been awesome and faultless for my 1st 6 months. I chose this because it uses the best network O2 and its simply perfect….
Weldone!
been on giffgaff for years, great for families with free calls between giffgaff users so even if the kids have no credit they can still call home. The only downside is no wifi calling but hopefully we’ll get that one day and 02 have been investing in masts etc so coverage is definitely better in the house now. Giffgaff is brill.
Had been very happy with Lebara (10gb, £6.95 a month) for over a year. Sadly switched to O2 as part of VOLT VM offer. I already see O2 is so slow in my area. The saving grace is I’m working from home so on WiFi, so I’ll tolerate it because the deal I got had other Virgin perks that were more important to me than mobile network speed out of home.
They need to get their priorities straight first they need Wi-Fi calling on their network 4G VoLTE calling on giffgaff I think it would make a huge difference if all the other networks are doing it there’s no reason why giffgaff should have it
