The joint BT and state aid supported £94m Connecting Devon and Somerset (CDS) project has just launched an official coverage map, which is designed to give locals a rough idea of when each specific area will be upgraded to fibre optic based superfast broadband (25Mbps+).
The programme itself aims to roll-out 80Mbps capable FTTC and 330Mbps FTTP technology to “around” 90% of local homes and businesses by the end of 2016 (original news) and recently revealed the first communities that can expect to benefit (here), which included 15,000 homes and businesses by “early” 2014.
Unfortunately those hoping to see a detailed picture of the deployment programme will probably find the map to be somewhat limited. In addition the map doesn’t yet contain all of the rollout data and a FAQ Page notes that it “will be updated when more information becomes available“. So far most of the data being shown only reflects the previous June 2013 announcement (linked above).
