A new virtual mobile operator (mvno) has launched today called Rocket Mobile, which claims to have been “built exclusively for football fans” and will harness 4G and 5G (mobile broadband) connectivity from VodafoneThree’s (Vodafone and Three UK) growing national UK network infrastructure.

Customers of the eSIM focused service can expect to pay £16 per month for unlimited data, calls and text messages on a no-contract plan. The service also includes 20GB of EU data roaming and 1GB for the rest of the world. In addition, subscribers will apparently benefit from “exclusive football games, content, and live events” as part of their GFN (Global Fan Network) partnership.

Football fans never get an easy ride – everyone knows the costs of tickets, merch, and just supporting the teams they love,” said Brett Lotriet Best of Rocket Mobile. “It’s time for a fan revolution in mobile. Rocket Mobile is here to give fans everything they need at a price they can actually afford. For £16 a month, they get all their data, calls, and texts, with a fair price that’s locked in – a small way to support the community that is the lifelblood of the game.”

The price point makes this service similar to iD Mobile and a few others, although they offer 30GB of EU roaming data in 50 destinations but lack the GFN partnership. But whether the latter is enough to make you adopt an unfamiliar new eSIM provider is another matter. “Rocket Mobile isn’t just another mobile provider,” added Best. “It’s a platform for fans to connect, create, and celebrate the sport they love, without being priced out of the game.”

Having a mobile that works when you are at a match in a stadium is all we are after.

    “exclusively for football fans”

This means that non-football fans are barred from joining. How are they checking your eligibility, i.e. whether you are a football fan or not?

“Rocket Mobile isn’t just another mobile provider”

    Err, yes it’s exactly that.

It not Unlimited !!! Be careful.

    Fair Usage Policy

Our Plans, including Unlimited Data Plans, are for personal, non-commercial use only and are not a substitute for home broadband. “Fair Usage” is defined as:

Below 4,000 minutes of voice calls and below 2,000 SMS sent per month.
Below 750 GB of Data usage per month.
Less than 8 days of Roaming Data usage per month, and less than 20GB of EU Roaming Data usage and 1GB of non-EU Roaming Data usage per month.
Breaching these terms or exceeding personal, non-commercial use may result in service termination, suspension, or restriction.

Hooligans, Totes, Fans, Ticket Racketeers… Being a none Football fan since birth (51 years this month) I’d give them a away win and a draw at home for the initiative behind it, but God help them if a offside comes up… No one can understand that role, not even the experts I’ve been told!

This is quite an interesting development, as it potentially could be a better network than having Vodafone or Three, as you can’t roam between the networks. The way it’s worded, Rocket uses both Vodafone and Three masts and would allow Rocket to connect other either network – too good to be true?

    From their website:
    What’s the coverage like?
Mobile coverage dead zones are the worst. That’s why we’re working with two of the best providers around– Vodafone and Three – covering 99% of the country. So, if one sucks, the other one works. We can’t promise you’ll get any better coverage at half time at the Emirates, Stamford Bridge, Anfield or Old Trafford (we’re not miracle workers) – but we can promise access to your apps, the web and your mates shouldn’t be any worse than what the fella in the seat next to you is experiencing.

Is it a Three mvno or a Vodafone mvno? Because there is still a huge difference between the two.

I wonder if they’re just another Gamma reseller
