The UK Internet Services Providers Association (ISPA) reports that members (ISPs) of the industry group will now gain expanded benefits if they also join up with the CISAS Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) scheme, which is designed to supplement a providers own internal consumer complaints procedures.
The communications regulator, Ofcom, requires that all UK ISPs belong to one of two regulator approved ADR schemes. At present ISPA members already gain from free CISAS membership and the new benefits are listed below.
ISPAs Member Benefits with CISAS ADR
* A 25% discount on mediation, arbitration and adjudication for customer disputes that fall outside of the current ISPA CISAS scheme (subject to a claim cap of £125,000).
* ISPA members will also have access to CEDR’s commercial mediation services with a 10% discount on the price of mediation.
* For ISPA members the first year’s membership of CEDR is free (a saving of £3,250), with a 25% discount on subsequent years, up to a maximum of five years. CEDR members benefit from access to leading conflict management, dispute resolution and advanced negotiation skills training, at discounted rates. There is no obligation to sign up to CEDR membership for a minimum term. Further details about the benefits of CEDR membership and how to join can be found at http://www.cedr.com/about_us/membership/.
The ISPA hopes that this will make membership of the group even more attractive and certainly the 25% discount could be useful to some, especially those that have to deal with a lot of consumer complaints.
