Public UK WiFi Hotspot operator The Cloud, a BSkyB company, has installed a new “high-speed” public wireless internet service at the Broadgate office block in London’s Square Mile. The service is expected to benefit thousands of people who visit and work in the area, although only the first 60 minutes per day will be free.
The Cloud’s network currently includes thousands of hotspots across the UK and there were over 7 million sessions recorded on the network in February 2012. Since last month all Sky Broadband Unlimited customers can also enjoy free, unrestricted wireless access at Broadgate and all other Cloud WiFi hotspots.
Vince Russell, MD of The Cloud, said:
“We are delighted to be using our considerable experience to bring fast, reliable internet access to the squares, terraces, colonnades and piazzas of Broadgate. Today, given the phenomenal popularity of smartphones and tablets, this service allows people to share the buzz and excitement of one of London’s most vibrant shopping, dining and entertainment areas.”
Not that it matters but The Cloud and Broadgate have also installed a hot air balloon in the area, which will allow workers to enjoy an ascent “into the Clouds” and take in the views of London (assuming it isn’t foggy).
