Business ISP Fluidata has today announced the launch of its new PureFluid PULSE service, which effectively bonds (line-bonding) up to three 80Mbps capable Fibre-to-the-Cabinet (FTTC) based broadband connections to deliver a maximum internet download speed of up to 200Mbps (60Mbps upload).
The service is backed up with a separate DSL line or 3G connection and has been designed to offer a “real alternative to a leased line“, as Extech claims in Fluidata’s press release.
Piers Daniell, MD of Fluidata, says:
“PureFluid PULSE offers as good as or even better speeds than fibre, and a high service level guarantee. Businesses can get the superfast speeds and reliability associated with a leased line, for the cost of a DSL connection.”
The fully managed service is supported by a 1:1 contention, 99.99% Service Level Agreement (SLA), 12 month contract, SMS and email alerts, BT Enhanced Care, static IPv4 + IPv6 addresses and uptime monitoring. Unfortunately it’s not clear how much Fluidata’s service actually costs but it certainly isn’t targeted at home users.
Likewise it’s worth remembering that FTTC connections, while a huge improvement over the ADSL and ADSL2+ based lines of old, can still suffer from significant speed degradation the further you are away from your local street cabinet. On top of that the very act of bonding lines can also carry a performance detriment (experiences vary).
