National park information centres in the Lake District (North West England, UK) are now able to offer free wireless internet access after a new service was installed at the Bowness Bay, Windermere; Moot Hall in Keswick; and Glenridding on Ullswater visitor centres.
National Park Information Services Project Manager, Olivia Clarke, said: “More and more people are using smartphones’, laptops and tablets whilst on the move to plan their stay within the national park. There is an expectation from people now that free Wi-Fi will be available at the most popular destinations, and we want to ensure that our information centres are providing a modern, friendly and accessible service.”

The new service should come as a big bonus for visitors and locals alike because the Lake District is notorious for its poor mobile phone reception.
