UK ISP PlusNet Adds Useful Broadband and Phone Help Videos

A small but interesting piece of news today is that budget Internet provider PlusNet has uploaded a raft of new YouTube help videos, which cover everything from tackling broadband connection and speed problems to phone line faults and how to change your payment details.
The new PlusNet Help Channel currently has only a limited selection of videos, although it’s worth noting that many of them can also apply to other BTOpenreach-based ISPs. As an example we’ve posted a couple of the broadband and phone focused help videos below. It should be said that most of the other big ISPs have produced similar videos for their own customers.
Our only gripe with PlusNet’s videos are that the image quality seems to be a bit too soft (blurred), even in 1080p HD, as if it were all filmed while slightly out of focus. Either that or I’ve gone blind in the last minute or so, which being an IT chap is a distinct possibility.

Nicely done.
So that’s what a real master socket looks like 😉
first few lines of the first video “What to do if you are having problems with your broadband connection”
Though how you would be watching streaming video if you have a real problem especially a 4min 02sec one (The longest rather funnily and ironically in their playlist) and a 36.2MB in size (or that is close to 3.7Meg stream including the rather ridiculous VARIABLE bitrate 192k aac audio when watched in HD) I guess only they know.
Slow speeds or a connection which keeps dropping out????? To watch a 3.7 Meg stream, yep good luck LOL
Oh and @MarkJ the reason it still looks blurry at 1080p is because there is no 1080p stream.
This is a bug of youtube which has been around ages, for some reason on some channels playlists it allows you to select various different qualities even when they do not exist.
Plusnet probably at one point had a 1080 stream on their “help” channel which has led to any youtubes playlists being created thinking/or hoping they must all have a 1080 version, which they do not. The highest quality stream available (CURRENTLY) for the first video in the story is 720p, if you switch between 720 and 1080 in full screen you will see no difference in quality.
