EE Offer 100GB of FREE 4G Mobile Broadband Data.. Sort of

Wednesday, Nov 26th, 2014 (9:37 am) - Score 10,539

Mobile operator EE has teamed up with the Radio 1 DJs and YouTubers Dan and Phil to offer customers a special “No strings, No contract” 4G Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) SIM that comes with 100GB (GigaBytes) of free Mobile Broadband data for use each month (details here), although naturally there is a catch or two.

Firstly, in order to benefit you’ll need to make sure the SIM is topped up with £10 a month (250 mins and unlimited texts) and then the 100GB aspect will only last for two consecutive months. Never the less 100GB over 4G, even if just for two months, still represents pretty good value even with the top-up.

In fairness the T&C’s are a little unclear about whether or not the £10 top-up is a strict requirement in order to use the 100GB allowance, so make your own judgement below.

100GB SIM Offer T&Cs

Sign up by midnight on 21st December 2014 for a free Limited Edition pay as you go SIM via the EE Limited Edition SIM website, and we’ll give you a UK data allowance of 100GB each month for 2 consecutive months for free. The 100GB of data is for use in the UK only. You need to put the SIM we send you in your phone within 14 days of receiving it and the 100GB free data will start as soon as you use data. The data will last for 30 days or until it runs out, whichever happens first. Any unused data will not roll over to the next month.

If you exceed this 100GB allowance or want to use data outside the UK, you’ll need to top up and buy a pay as you go data add-on (standard charges will apply), see ee.co.uk/payg. You can top up to buy any of the EE pay as you go packs at any time. You’ll need 3G or 4G coverage to use your 100GB data and a compatible 3G or 4G device. To use 4G you must be within a 4G enabled area and in range of a 4G base station. 4G coverage is limited and only available in select cities in the UK, see ee.co.uk/coverage. See our standard data terms at ee.co.uk/terms for what you can do with your data.

The SIM also comes pre-loaded with a 30 day Talk & Text pack. Top up at least £10 before midnight on the day after you put your SIM in your phone, and that £10 will be taken automatically to buy 250 minutes and unlimited texts to use for the next 30 days. If you do not top up £10 or more when you first put your SIM in your phone you can buy a Talk and Text Pack after this period by topping up £10 then texting TTP10 to 150. The pack will then start as soon as you make a call or send a text message. All packs recur automatically unless you opt out.

But there is another catch, which is that customers who take the offer will also receive “weekly text messages … with exclusive content” from Dan and Phil (sounds like SPAM). Rumour has it that if you don’t sign-up for this then Dan and Phil might pay you a threatening visit at home, although we suspect those reports may be false.. hopefully.
