The ability to turn a negative into a positive is something that some companies do better than others and today it’s PlusNet’s turn after one of the Internet’s many citizens complained that they’d got their musical instruments confused in a recent advert.
As anybody familiar with PlusNet will tell you, the ISP relishes its Yorkshire roots and capitalises on that reputation in their advertisements. In one recent example they used the phrase “blowing our own trumpet” alongside a picture of a man blowing a trumpet, except it wasn’t a Trumpet, it was a Cornet and no we don’t mean of the ice cream cone variety; although that would have made for a better picture.

Naturally the Internet did what it does best, moan, and through the medium of social media (Twitter) called the provider out on their most heinous mistake (here). PlusNet, perhaps not wishing to anger said Internet, wisely issued a slightly tongue-in-cheek apology and then turned it into another promotion. The crafty devils.
