NextGen Digital Challenge Awards 2015 Names Best Altnet Broadband ISPs

Monday, Nov 9th, 2015 (1:28 am) - Score 964

The NextGen Conference in London has unveiled the winners of their 5th annual Digital Challenge Awards, which are designed to celebrate projects from across the United Kingdom that offer great examples of digital progress. This year saw a number of altnet ISPs win awards for their efforts to improve broadband connectivity.

Last year’s event saw JT (Jersey Telecom) win the “Local Authority Rural & Urban Broadband Award” for their deployment of an ultrafast Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) network on the island of Jersey, while various other projects also won accolades for general Internet related projects.

This year the categories have been tweaked and as such there’s a separate award for both rural and urban related broadband projects. Needless to say that CityFibre picked up the urban gong for their fibre optic network roll-out in Peterborough and the little known Lothian Broadband Networks secured the rural gong for their hybrid fibre optic and fixed wireless network in Scotland’s East Lothian region.
