Cable operator Virgin Media reports that the average household in the United Kingdom had five different Internet-enabled gadgets connected to their broadband network on Christmas day, which peaked at 10pm and the majority of devices were identified as being Smartphones connected via WiFi.
By comparison the cable operator notes that, in February 2015, some 60% of Virgin Media’s customers had at least three devices connected to their home broadband and that was up from 37% in 2014. On top of that it’s stated that data usage on the Virgin Media’s network is growing at a rate of around 60% every year.
