New consumers wishing to take Sky Broadband’s unlimited and FTTC based ‘up to’ 76Mbps (19Mbps upload) Sky Fibre Max service may like to know that the ISP has cut its price to just £15 per month for the first 12 months of service (£25 thereafter), but you also have to pay £17.40 a month line rental on top.
As usual a 12 month contract term also applies and the package comes with unlimited usage, an included Sky Q Hub wireless router (£9.95 delivery charge), Sky Yahoo Email, Sky Shield Internet filtering (Parental Controls) and you also gain access to Sky’s network of public UK WiFi hotspots via The Cloud. Support for IPv6 is often also enabled (currently in the final roll-out phase) and an activation charge of £39 may also apply (£50 for existing subscribers).

Sadly the new Sky Fibre Max package no longer includes a Static IP address, a dedicated support line or selectable profiles. One other irritating downside is that the only way customers can order this package is over the phone. Plus it’s important to reflect that many FTTC lines may not be able to deliver the top speed being advertised and for that reason the normal 38Mbps Sky Fibre Unlimited option may be a better and cheaper bet.
