Cable broadband ISP Virgin Media UK has today announced the appointment of Jeff Dodds to become their new Chief Operating Officer (COO). Jeff will take over the position from Lutz Schüler on 11th June 2019, which follows hot on the heels of Lutz’s own appointment (here) to become the provider’s new CEO.
Dodds moved into the position of Virgin Media’s Chief Customer Officer and Managing Director of Operations in November 2018, having previously led their EE MVNO based Mobile business for 18 months. Prior to that he also worked for Tele2 as the CEO of their Dutch telecoms business, where he oversaw the launch of their 4G network.
In addition, Dodds spent 5 years at Virgin Media where he was responsible for marketing, commercial strategy and customer experience. Dodds said: “It’s a real privilege to step into this role at what is an exciting time for both the industry and Virgin Media. Over the last seven months I’ve worked very closely with Lutz and I’m looking forward to helping the business to grow further under his strong purpose-led leadership style and relentless focus on performance.”
Great! But where’s the gigabit?! This doubling of upload speed will only keep me satiated for so long!
Wait for 3.1 though they’d need a shedload of backhaul as well.
