EE and BT Broadband Customers Can Purchase Xbox Series X, S

Customers of BT’s UK broadband or EE’s Pay Monthly mobile packages have today also gained the “chance” (stock allowing) to purchase Microsoft’s latest Xbox Series X or Series S video game console, plus a range of games and accessories, directly from the operator. Just don’t expect any special discounts.

The new console, which launches today, can be purchased by BT’s broadband customers through their MyBT account (here you’ll get a code that will enable you to purchase via BT’s shop today). Meanwhile existing EE Pay Monthly mobile customers will also have the option to take out one of the consoles and add the cost to their price plan, split over 11 interest-free instalments with EE’s Add to Plan service.

Apparently, this all forms part of BT’s “ongoing commitment to bring the best gaming experiences to customers,” although aside from EE’s instalments plan it doesn’t look as if there will be much difference between buying from BT or EE and just going to any other retailer (assuming it’s still in-stock at those).

Alistair Wilson, BT’s Director of Devices and Partnerships, said:

“In the world of online gaming a win or loss can be measured in milliseconds, as a result, gamers stand to benefit from the ultra responsive, super-fast connectivity that BT fibre and EE’s 5G service gives them. By working with console manufacturers such as Microsoft, we’re helping support gamers so they can ensure they’re getting the very most from their gaming experience”.

End.

Just says register interest when I log into my bt and search xbox series x through the BT shop.

    1. Avatar photo David Myers says:

Because they sold out at 9am.

    2. Avatar photo Mark says:

Look at the time of my comment

    3. Avatar photo David Myers says:

By 9am, apologies. So probably sold out at sometime between 8am and 9am, as they went on sale at 8am.

  2. Avatar photo Mark says:

Its weird as id logged into my bt account just before 8.30 and it still said to register interest. I have been trying all morning to get a series x and it seems I’m out of luck this year.

  3. Avatar photo Mark says:

Why would anyone buy the Series X? It has no exclusives coming out for the first two years as all games coming to it also play on Xbox One! Just wait two years for the price to drop!

Oh, and that’s coming from a fan of Xbox since the OG console!

    1. Avatar photo Mark says:

Its weird that different people like different things and spend their money how they see fit. Mindblowing.

    2. Avatar photo Steven says:

Why does anyone upgrade their PC?

False, The Medium won’t be out on Xbox One and that will be on Series X&S after Christmas.

I would say there’s better reason to buy a Series X at launch than PS5 at least it improves your entire library of games unlike PS5 which is still doing things the old way and will have to rely on a PS3 remake and another Spiderman Zzzz for a while all while being weaker.

  4. Avatar photo Buggerlugz says:

Lets hope Microsoft actually bring out some games for this console then….might come in handy.

    1. Avatar photo Mark says:

According to Wikipedia the xbox one has over 2300 games available to play…..but no games available according to you.

    2. Avatar photo Buggerlugz says:

How many of the 2300 are “original Xbox/360 backward compatible “Played it decades ago and am not bothered” crap or Indy “Xbox one exclusive” platformer or “those of the xbox gold monthly release” ilk, generally titles not even worthy of inclusion?

I’ll go further with my original statement, the Xbox one has maybe had 10 decent games tops since its release, everything else is window dressing. If anything the Xbox one was more a 360+ and just pretending to be next gen at its release.

What’s going to be different this time? Wow, it can play xbox one titles….blown away!

    3. Avatar photo Mark says:

So when you drill down to it your comment can be summed up by saying only first part games matter and you don’t like MS first party and that’s fine as I don’t like most of Sonys one and done types of games and have been a fan of gears and halo since day one. Thats why I like xbox. I like rpgs as well and the fact that MS has just bought zenimax for over 7billion as well as owning inexile, double fine, obsidian and ninja theory means I’ll have plenty to play in the future

What I don’t understand is people like you who see no value in something and assume everyone has to be the same.

    4. Avatar photo Buggerlugz says:

What I don’t get is how a new console can illicit such passion that one can come out with a phrase like “People like you” in this day and age……..One person is as perfectly entitled to their own perspective on the matter, as are you sir.

    5. Avatar photo Mark says:

I’m sorry but saying people like you is offensive in “this day and age”? You clearly have a different point of view to me hence why I wrote that. If your offended by that then thats on you.

And what “passion” are you talking about? You wrote something that was purely opinion and I refuted it by stating why I will and do like xbox.

Your the one who seemed to get a little annoyed by peddling out the tired old “xbox has no games” argument. Fact of the matter is i like the types of games and studios MS own more than Sony and Nintendo hence why I own an xbox. With the recent studio purchase menaing they’re going to be providing me with the types of games I like.

I have no problem with people not liking MS games and studios and preferring Sonys and PlayStation type of games, but id never say that just because I don’t like single player narrative heavy games like the last of us that they have no fans and therfor the console has no games.

  5. Avatar photo David O says:

All series x ran out before 8:20am and you had to apply for PayPal credit, I was declined so won’t be getting one yet. I don’t have ee sim but £41 per month for 11 months sounds like a good deal for those who can get it.

  6. Avatar photo Michael Lamb says:

The xbox series S is still available now, I just ordered one 5 mins ago

    1. Avatar photo Paul says:

Where was the xbox s Michael?

  7. Avatar photo Big Baz says:

Thanks for the tip it says more than 50 Xbox S available. X sold out. I’m happy now!

  8. Avatar photo Tech Dex says:

Series X is already confirmed to be obsolete by 2022 because it can’t handle the top teir games that will come to Xbox in 2022. I always buy both Sony and MS and I can’t Justify £450 for a console that revamps old games. I bought a digital PS5 and not interested in MS till 2022. Because why dig deep into your pocket for a ‘next gen’ console to be limited to previous gen titles. Also for those who don’t know the new AMD Rayzen chips in the SX are very limited as the PC 6000 series was delayed because they are based of of the Exclusive chip in the PS5 I’m a very Techy guy. The One X was another con 12 teraflops and when tested only used 5.4 and still lacked sustinance not to mention the Series X removed liquid cooling which it has leaked will be in the refined 2022 SX console.

    1. Avatar photo Tech Dex says:

      1st line mistake. Series S**

    2. Avatar photo Mark says:

The series s will be just fine in the future and there is no evidence to suggest it’ll be obsolete in 2 years. I’ve honestly no idea where people get this stuff from. There is plenty room for various skus on the market and whilst is say the series s isn’t for me it absolutely has a place for certain people.

The rest of what you wrote im confused about, do you mean that the series s has weaker amd hardware? Or both? In comparison to the ps5?

    3. Avatar photo Mr Man says:

The Ryzen is based off the PS5 chip??? It’s the exact opposite. The PS5 chip is based off Ryzen. But I’m sure you’re a ‘techy guy’.

  9. Avatar photo John says:

Fanboys getting defensive on here today.

Just because someone criticises the new xbox consoles doesn’t mean they are PlayStation users.

Getting so defensive over the xbox’s criticism and slating the PlayStation as a defense to that criticism is fanboy stuff.

I’d agree with much of the criticism in the comments about the Xbox series X/S.
    I’m not a PlayStation fanboy.

I’ve owned every generation of xbox.
I criticize the new xbox because i expected better, because i want better.
Responding to said criticism with “but but the PlayStation 5 …” just shows your bias (and that you’re a fanboy).

    I’ve pre-ordered the PS5.
    It’s only the 2nd PlayStation I’ve owned.

Each to their own i suppose.

    1. Avatar photo Mark says:

I’m assuming your pointing the finger at me and if that is the case you really have no idea what a fanboy is but you can think what you like.

I agree that MS launch line up is non existent but on a hardware level I don’t understand how anyone can say MS haven’t delivered a great piece of hardware and the fact they now have 22 first party studios the whole echo chamber argument about no games past, present and future holds less water. On this thread about people buying an xbox 2 people came in chatting the same stuff I’ve heard a million times before. Now there is a time and a place for valid criticism, like n4g, eurogamer and sites like that.

Bringing up other consoles in a discussion about new console launches is hardly unusual but again you can look for your smoking fanboy gun all you like I guess.

    2. Avatar photo Steven says:

Or stop talking nonsense the PS5 is Weaker end of

    3. Avatar photo Reilly says:

The x box one x and x box one s are being discontinued next year and none of them are getting software back up

  10. Avatar photo Simon says:

Apparently I’ve been an EE customer for too long to qualify . Only available to customers who’ve been with EE for 17 months or less

    1. Avatar photo Mark says:

A friend if mine sent me a screen grab from his ee account this morning saying all their stock had sold out.

    2. Avatar photo ymo1965 says:

      17 months.. not less

    3. Avatar photo Adrian Leonard says:

That’s not on i would phone and speak with a manager and say why should I stay with you if can’t get this add on as they let you upgrade your old phone

  11. Avatar photo ymo1965 says:

One thing you didn’t mention about the EE deal is you need to be with EE for minimum for 17 months. I rang them today (10th Nov) and they told me that. Ive only been with them 6 months. Plus they were sold out anyway and the only Series X deal they do is the extra controller (£540) £45 for 11 payments and £10 upfront cost. Pretty pi$$ed really.

    1. Avatar photo Mark says:

Id be surprised if both MS and Sony don’t have plenty stock for sale before Xmas as it would surely be one of their best times to sell.Theyd both be almost guaranteed to sell as many as they’d produce

  12. Avatar photo Mustafa says:

    Hello sunshine

  13. Avatar photo Nokia Nut says:

Wouldn’t touch Microsoft product again with a ten foot barge pole. BT should hold themselves to higher standards.

  14. Avatar photo Adrian Leonard says:

Well I thought I’d ordered xbox x series and they sent me xbox s series not happy but to be fair the guy on phone didn’t have much of a clue what he was doing so I think they need to explain to their staff of deals properly and make sure they get all Information they need to help themselves and customers

  15. Avatar photo MikeC says:

Not sure how this is any better than all access?

  16. Avatar photo Louise wynne says:

Is anyone out there still struggling to get an Xbox X before xmas? Just wondering if there will be anymore stock coming through…
