Business and residential UK ISP Glide Group (formerly CableCom) has today announced the appointment of Sean Lowry to be their new Chief Technology Officer (CTO), while Phil Duggan has also been named as their new Chief Operating Officer (COO).
Sean Lowry joins Glide after having previously worked in the student broadband industry at Keycom and, most recently, as CTO of business ISP Solar Communications. Meanwhile Phil Duggan has over 25 years’ experience at large Tier 1 carriers and will take responsible for all operations including logistics, provisioning, fibre delivery, field maintenance, and customer services.
Glide previously informed us that they had an ambition to cover 200,000 premises by the end of 2020, mostly via fibre optic broadband solutions, although today’s announcement only mentions that their “national full-fibre network [reaches] over 100,000 premises.”
Tim Pilcher, Glide Group CEO, said:
“We are delighted to have Sean and Phil joining us here at Glide during this exciting growth period. They both have outstanding backgrounds in the fibre sector, plus a strong track record of outstanding operational performance and we look forward to scaling our business growth to meet the flourishing fibre demand in 2021 and beyond.”
The move follows last year’s acquisition of the group by American infrastructure investment firm Alinda Capital Partners (ACP) in June, which is reportedly said to have paid around £200m to acquire the business. We should point out that Glide also has operations in Ireland, Italy and Spain.
