New broadband ISP YouFibre, which alongside Netomnia is working to make a 10Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network available to 1 million UK premises by 2024 – starting in the North East of England (here and here), has today announced that they’ve just signed-up their 1000th customer in the Durham area.

At present the provider’s first customers are already connecting to and using their ultrafast services in parts of Peterlee, Spennymoor and Durham. Boston and Spalding are also starting to go live, while Cheltenham, Stroud and Barrow are due to follow this month; and then Ashford, Canterbury, Houghton, Kings Lynn, Stockton and Wisbech in July 2021.

Customers in their initial locations can typically expect to pay from £22 per month (currently discounted to £19.80) on a 12-month term for their unlimited 50Mbps package, which rises to £50 (discounted to only £25) if you want their top 900Mbps plan – this is extremely cheap and clearly intended to help grow take-up. The pricing may reflect the fact that they face competition in some of their build areas.

Apparently, YouFibre’s 1000th customer is a family in Durham. Drew Urwin and his family, from Framwellgate Moor, also had another reason to celebrate after the ISP gifted them a full year of free broadband, along with a range of devices reliant on a good internet connection.

Ryan Battle, YouFibre’s MD, said:

“We’re absolutely delighted to announce our 1,000th customer and to be here today with Drew and his family to welcome them to YouFibre. To reach this milestone within our first year is a huge achievement for the YouFibre team. Our pace of growth highlights the demand for ultrafast broadband throughout the UK and the fact that when we say we’ll provide really fast broadband, that’s what we then do, unlike so many other providers.”

End.
