Tesco Mobile Named UK Utilities Brand of 2021 by Which?

Consumer magazine Which? has just released the results of their 15th annual awards event for 2021, which among other things named Tesco Mobile as their “Utilities Brand of the Year” after they “easily” outranked their largest competitors in the company’s best and worst mobile phone providers survey.

The Which? Awards are said to be an “independent endorsement“, albeit one that is judged by the magazine’s own “rigorous research and testing experts,” which seems to be at least partly influenced by their prior consumer surveys.

NOTE: Tesco is an O2 based Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO).

Prior to all this, the Institute of Customer Service (ICS) had also ranked Tesco Mobile 5th in their latest UK Customer Satisfaction Index (here). Clearly, Tesco’s customers appreciate the operator’s support, quality of service and their commitment not to raise prices mid-contract.

Tesco’s use of o2 as their providing network continues to make this a no-go for me, due to coverage issues in a couple of key locations that I regularly visit.

Three/EE has the necessary coverage, currently on a Three unlimited data contract that supports use of phone as a hotspot.

Not one for sounding like a mess on the phone tbh. I’ll stick with three.

I’ll stay with Smarty as I get WiFi and 4G calls,I would be on Tesco Mobile if they used EE’s network, not O2’s traffic managed mess.
