The mobile division of supermarket giant ASDA, which is powered by a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) agreement with Vodafone, has this week “permanently boosted” the data (mobile broadband) allowances of their entry-level £5 and £7 per month mobile bundles at no extra cost.
Previously, customers would get 1GB (GigaByte) of data for £5 a month and 3GB for £7, but this has now become 3GB for £5 and 5GB for £7. In addition, it’s currently possible to get the first three months of their “unlimited data” plans at half price, albeit only for the first three months of service.
I am waiting for VOXI to respond to Giffgaff’s recent data increases.
I expect we’ll see some Black Friday offers from VOXI imminently. I currently get 15GB for £10 from the last time they had offers on, which obviously matches giffgaff’s £10 plan, but with the benefits of a better network, wi-fi calling and visual voicemail.
£7 for 5gb is not a good deal at all, as Lebara via uswitch constantly do 10gb for £6.95
Any data increase is good to see, Unlimited calls and texts meh. Data allowances on some contract ‘deals’ are a joke and in many cases seem to bear no relation to actual costs just random price points set by throwing chicken bones in the air and seeing how they land.
They’ve just launched a three month double data promotion:
e.g. 6GB for £5 for new and existing customers until 19th February.
Unlimited plans are half price: e.g. Unlimited data £15 instead of £30. (The unlimited bundles with lower speed caps are also discounted)
