New data from crowdsourced mobile benchmarking firm Opensignal has compared how the 4G and 5G based UK mobile broadband download and upload speeds compared across Apple’s various iPhone generations (up to the iPhone 13). Unsurprisingly, the latest 5G equipped iPhone 12 and 13 delivered significantly faster performance.
Admittedly, there aren’t any particularly earth-shattering revelations to be found in this report. As you’d expect, the latest technologies almost always tend to perform better than past models, but it is interesting to see how this changes over time. For example, the 2019 iPhone 11 (4G only) achieved an average download rate of 19.3Mbps in the UK, but that jumps to 65.6Mbps on the iPhone 13 (4G and 5G).
