Broadband ISP Virgin Media Business UK (VMO2) has today announced that their wholesale division is working to deliver network services, including diverse Dark Fibre and optical high capacity services up to 100G, to customers across Proximity’s portfolio of regional colocation data centres.
At present Proximity, which is a rapidly growing regional edge colocation data centre provider, has already got 9 data centre sites open and a total of 20 Proximity sites will be available within the next 12 to 18 months, “providing nationwide coverage and reaching 95% of the UK population.”
Currently over 50% of Proximity’s UK-wide network of edge facilities include VMO2’s Wholesale connectivity options, with the Nottingham Edge 1 data centre being the most recent to benefit from an upgrade to include two diverse VMO2 Wholesale fibres.

Does this mean we can expect more than 3 mbit on O2 5G then ?
It’s possible now! Just wait till 4 in the morning, and do a speed test.
Absolutely. Just test from inside a Proximity data centre.
