Civil engineering company Morrison Telecom Services (MTS), part of the M Group Services, will continue to support Openreach’s ongoing rollout of Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP technology after the pair agreed to sign a new 3-year contract.
Openreach is currently working with a number of third-party contractors to help build their new full fibre network to cover 25 million UK premises by December 2026, which is expected to cost the operator up to £15bn to deliver. MTS also have a Network Services Agreement (ONSA) to help deliver that infrastructure, and this arrangement now looks set to continue.
Under the new agreement, MTS will be operating in two regions, the East and South-East of England, including London. This will create over 200 new job opportunities, with the contract expected to hire around 200 field engineers and a number of office-based support roles in these communities.
The three-year contract runs to September 2025 and is expected to be worth £45m. There is also an opportunity for the contract to be extended for a further 2-years.
Pat Carolan, MTS Managing Director, said:
“This is an important new contract for Morrison Telecom Services. We now provide telecommunication services from end-to-end, including network survey, design, build, repair, maintenance and now customer connections.
We are already well established in the South and East of the country, and this gives us a great opportunity to bring new recruits into our business with access to a wide range of engineering and back-office roles.”
Jon O’Neill, Contract Manager for Openreach Service Delivery, said:
“The Openreach Service Delivery team is delighted to welcome Morrison Telecom Services as a new supplier for customer connections across the East and South-East of England. We look forward to working with them.”
End.
More cowboys building the nations fibre connection .
£45 million as well ! shouldn’t they pay their employees to avoid these strikes ?
MTS are a tier 1 contractor for Openreach, most of the physical work is undertaken by tier 2 contractors.
Lol, more double, quadruple up in London…
Took a pay cut to leave MTS, was a load of crap
Funny Morrison only lost the civils contract a few years ago now it’s the best thing
