Mobile operator Three UK has confirmed that they too have joined EE (here) and Vodafone (here) in starting to rollout their ultrafast 5G (mobile broadband) service on the London Underground (tube trains), with Archway, Tufnell Park, and Notting Hill Gate stations this week becoming the first to be upgraded.
David Hennessy, Three UK’s CTO, told ISPreview.co.uk: “The launch of 5G at three stations is just the beginning of our customers being able to enjoy access to the UK’s Fastest 5G service across the London Underground network.” As previously reported, all of the operators are following a similar path due to harnessing the same wholesale access platform from BAI Communications, although O2 (VMO2) seems to be moving at a much slower pace.
The ultimate goal is to cover the entire London Underground with the new 4G and now 5G network by late 2024 (ticket halls, platforms and tunnels), so we’re expecting to see the network coverage expand a lot during 2023 and further announcements will no doubt follow.

Hi Mark.
Do you know what the hold up from O2 is? They’ve not added 4G to any of these stages despite the fact they’ve signed an agreement with BAI. Can you kindly ask them?
